I've seen furnture with beautiful pine and cherry plywoods. I've also seen really thin plywood (3/8") for drawers. Where does one buy that stuff? Neither Home Depot or other local lumber yards carry that sort of thing. They only have lumber for building houses.

  1. What you can do is go to home depot or lowesand by a sheet of birch plywood .Birch plywood is what they make kitchen cabinets out of .It's a beautiful piece of wood that's very fine and smooth. With birch you usally stain it with oak or cherry and so on. I believe it about 50. bucks a sheet, could be more now.

  2. go up to the pro desk at home depot m-f 6-6.  They can special order whatever u need

  3. fisrt depending in what part of the country you are...check your yellow pages and look for LUMBER YARDS

  4. Most of the building supply stores, while they may not carry specialty ply's... they can order them.  So you might check that.

You may find one of those who are close to you.

Of course, there is always the option of using veneers.... Rockler is a pretty good source for veneers and supplies

They also now carry cabinet door/drawer fronts, and dovetailed drawer boxes.

  5. Try a good wood working shop. if they don't carry what you want they should know who does.
