I have a short time in Amsterdam, and I want to buy myself a poffertjes pan. Where can I buy one? A good one please, not a knock off that will rust in a few months.

  1. Any store that sells household goods will have them, and of course the kitchen specialty shops.

There are different types, some are iron that will rust, but if you take good care of the pan it will not rust.

I know that out of my own experience, my mothers poffertjes pan is like that. Oil it well before storing, no problems, not even when you use it as little as once a year or less.

An other kind is the 'tefal' anti stick surface.

If you treat it right, no problems, specially not if you have an expensive one. But the real cheap ones will loose the anti stick layer after a while.

Your choice which is best for you.

I think Blokker, (all over town, one on Damrak, from the station to Dam square and one in Kalverstraat, the shopping street on the other side of Dam Square) is the easiest store to start looking.

I know there are a few kitchen tools specialty shops, I know only one: Studio Bazar, Keizersgracht 709 (corner Utrechtsestraat)

    tel. 020-622 28 58

But if you are interested in the more expensive shops and rather have a wider choice, the tourist information, VVV in Dutch, is always willing to help you finding shops.

Layman is right, I overlooked both the kind of metal and the shops.

    Enjoy shopping!

  2. I bought an aluminium one at the Hema a few years ago. I don't know if they still do them, for I live abroad now.....Good shops to try: Marskramer, Blokker, Vroom en Dreesman, Bijenkorff and of course the Hema. Some shops specialize in cooking accesories, you might be lucky in one of them!

    Good Luck!
