Where can I buy unwaxed lemons by the box in northern VIC, Australia? Local fruitshop says there aren't any.

I am having trouble finding unwaxed lemons (2 boxes for now, but will need them frequently). The guy from the local shop says that he can't find any at the wholesale market that he goes to.

Bendigo / Kyneton (or thereabouts) would be preferable, but would drive if need be.

Any help much appreciated! :-)

Why would you wax a lemon???

Actually MANY fruits are waxed ... try this .. get some water with ice blocks and drop a few apples  and then citrus fruits like Oranges  & lemons .. the wax shows up .. and it IS done to help preserve them ...

BUT in answer to your question .. Can I suggest you check out the orchards where the fruit is grown .. you can probably buy direct .. IF NOT even pick your own :)

edit: friends of ours grow lemons commercially ... but we're in the dandenongs .... however if you are really stumped ..contact me and i will give you their phone number and perhaps you can make arrangements with them to ship some to you ?
