Where can I complain about being charged too much to change a date on an airline ticket?

I bought a ticket from Lufthansa but my circumstances have changed and I wish to stay for another week. I have been told that this will cost me another £350.00. I have already paid out almost £800.00 and as I am a pensioner I can not afford this. I have tried that agent who sold me the ticket and the airline but nobody wants to know.

  1. You can complain to anyone you want, it won't make any difference. You made the deal. Now you want a different deal. Tough.

  2. to the cops

  3. If you wanted the flexibility in changing your ticket you should have purchased a fully refundable/changeable ticket.  Although that probably would have cost you at least L1600.00 for a refundable/changeable ticket.

Lower priced tickets usually come with more restrictions.

The truth of the matter is no one is going to care about why your circumstances have changed or why you don't feel the need that you should have to pay the fees involved in changing.

I work in travel, and I change tickets for people every day.  If you change a reservation, you can be charged penalties, and additional airfare, it's just part of the game, and it's not going away any time soon.

  4. Unfortunately, had you read the "fine print" when you purchased the ticket,  this most likely would have been spelled out for you, so I'm afraid you dont have a case to complain to anyone.  There are many many paragraphs full of rules regarding cancelation/change fees and eventhough they arent put right in your face when you book, its always wise to seek them out when buying an airline ticket.

  5. Yes, welcome to the wonderful world of flying.  You will do as well to howl at the Moon.
