Where can I dispose of unopen bottles of wine near san francisco?

I have a lot of unopened wine which has gone bad that I want to get rid of.

  1. They should only be bad if the cork is rotted.


  2. My general rule of thumb is to try the wine before dumping it.  Of course, if they were left baking in the sun in a non-climate controlled storage unit all summer, chances are the wine is bad.

    You could always use wine bottles as part of your decor, and friends might be willing to take a few off your hands.  You could put an ad out on craigslist - there are many people who will take empty bottles and fill with their own homebrews (so to speak).  At the very least, if you do plan on dumping the wine, recycle the bottles.  Many recycling centers take colored glass.

    Here is a link for some ideas as to what to do with those old wine bottles rather than just tossing them in the garbage.
