Where can I dispose of window glass?

I have old aluminum windows and I plan to recycle the aluminum frames, but every recycling center I find online says you cannot recycle window glass. Is this completely true? Do people normally just throw window glass in the trash?

Yes and yes. Window glass has different properties than glass bottles. Also most storm windows are NOT made out of tempered glass and will cut you if you break it.

Selling them or giving them to someone who could use them would be the best recycling.

Yes, they do.  If these are storm windows, this will be easy, as they are made of tempered glass, and when you break them, they will turn into zillions of little bits -- very easy to toss in the trash.

It would probably be better to give someone the whole window.....why are you doing only the aluminum frames.....are you replacing the glass?
