Where can I donate clothes in Melbourne, Australia?

I am looking for a place in Melbourne, Australia where I can donate clothes to needy people. I want to find a place where the clothes will actually go the people, rather than just being sold in a shop and having some of the money go the the people.

Does any one know a place where this would happen?

Thank you.

  1. The Salvation Army and St Vinnie's do both.

They do not on sell clothes to make a profit for financial gain but do so to help fund their projects and goodwill programs. the shops are not manned by payed staff but by volunteers.

the clothes are sold for a cheap price that barely covers the cost of the cleaning and ironing of them to make them sale able.

Many of the customers that buy  the products are people in need and because of the cheap prices can get good quality clothes for what amounts to a small donation

They also have blanket donations to help the homeless.

Do not underestimate the value of these services by these institutions in the way they will handle your donation. they really do need your help and i can guarentee that one way or another your donation will go where it is most needed.
