My office has just gone through re-branding so we have many pens, papers, ect. with our old logo that we are no longer using. Is there an organization that these can be donated to that will give the supplies to schools in the Chicagoland area?

  1. Donating to CPS can be surprisingly difficult.  There's all sorts of red tape you'll need to get through just to give stuff away (hard to believe but true).  Might be best to just walk in with a box of stuff and drop it off at the receptionist's desk.  Don't expect a letter of receipt or anything like that.

Likewise, consider donating to a private school - they'll probably be much happier to work with you!

(BTW it's "etc" as in et cetera, not "ect")

  2. You donate directly to the school.  They will gladly accept. But the individual school will not give you a receipt for a tax deduction.  That would have to come from the district office.  I don't think you are looking for a tax write-off; you just want to help.

I donate daily newspapers for the kids and teachers to use for class.
