Where can I download free e-books?

I'm really worried because I start classes tomorrow, and I have no money for books, my professor sent me a welcome e-mail, that he'd be there today if we liked to stop by(and to be sure to get the required textbooks, and to open them and look inside),

I barely have enough gas to get there and back, and my classes are scheduled tomorrow, I can't get any money until the 28th, am I going to fail my class for not having the book tomorrow?
