My father in law has a boat with a 1975 Evinrude 50HP outboard motor on it that keeps having minor problems. (Really it's kind of a hobby for him I suppose... I'd have just bought a newer one a long time ago!) He wants to find a user's manual for it, but after a few generalized searches online, I've yet to turn up anything. Anyone have any ideas?

  1. http://shop.evinrude.com/dyn_category.ph...

evinrude doesnt produce manuals that far back, unless you can find an individual or a company that has the rights to reproduce the manual, it will be hard to find one.

    check ebay, and overtons.

  2. Seloc has a general service manual available for that motor.  Go to selocmarine.com  or marineengine.com.  Have fun!

  3. you can get the original factory manuals from http://www.kencook.com or http://iboats.com or http://www.marineengine.com - I've done business with all three of these vendors, they're all ok.

if you want to do your own maintenance, I highly recommend the factory "service" manual.

seloc is ok, it's written for the do-it-yourselfer (whereas the factory manual is for a mechanic) - but it covers many years and models, it may or may not have illustrations for your particular model, and some of the information is just flat wrong.
