I was googing this and all i could find was hotel packages that were just planing a real wedding which is something I dont want. I am just looking for a cheap and convient place in Maine where my fiancee and I can elope.

I feel like I should have to pay all of this money for eloping packages when I just want the simple old fashioned way. the way it used to be done, last minute and at complete random.

please help!

  1. It can't really be last minute because if you marry in Maine you have to get your license at least 3 days before you marry. You could have one of your friends become ordained, head to the beach or one of the lighthouses and have them marry the two of you. If it's just you two, stop at a local florist and pick up a single stem rose or a half dozen or whatever you want if any. Can't get any cheaper than that. What location are you looking at specifically if any? I might be able to help you out if you want, I've lived here all my life and lived all over Maine.

Nova I just went last week with my fiance to get our license and the girl at the town office asked when we were getting married. I told her August 16th and she said 'ok good because there is a 3 day waiting period'...And when my brother got married a few years ago I remember there being a waiting period. So maybe it's changed and the girl at the town office forgot but if there is no longer a waiting period, it hasn't always been that way.

PS that site also says though "You'll typically need to apply for your marriage license at least one month before your wedding ceremony."

This site is different from what the previous poster said - - this says there is no waiting period in Maine for the license.  So I would definitely make a call to a clerk and ask about the waiting period just to be absolutely clear.

These packages aren't the cheapest: http://www.elopetomaine.com/Services.htm...

    This isn't too bad:

This one includes a night in a suite:

not cheap, but a pretty comprehensive package, including 2 nights:

And here's another one that includes 1 night:

another option would be to look at www.bandbfinder.com and search Maine B&Bs that offer weddings and see what comes up.

If you don't have your heart set on Maine, I would suggest the JOP in Winchester, VA that I used - -

You can find reasonable accomodations in the area.  Mr. Patterson is very nice, and affordable.  The Shenandoah Valley area has so many things to see.  And I can vouch for Virginia having NO WAITING PERIOD at all.
