  1. A lot of women in the Mississippi Delta eat the soil.  Not the Mississippi River Delta but up around Greenville and Greenwood Mississippi.  There are places in Africa where the soil is eaten as well.

They believe dirt, often eaten as mud, contains minerals and is good for them.  The mental health profession calls this practice abnormal and refers to dirt or mud eating as Pica.

  2. For the love of God, why??!

  3. Just go to Mississippi, and whatever kind of dirt they eat there, you eat it also.  Lithophagy.

    Umm, minerals.

  4. I come from the South, and never heard tell of any edible dirt.  Heard of some folks out West that talked about someone that bit the dirt, but that ain't the same a-tall. Now, what you really want is to eat some cloth.  Ever hear of a "cloth sandwich"? Them's good vittles.  It's made like this:

Ya take two pieces of bread, and in between you put

    Cheese

    Lettuce

    Onion

    Tomato

    Ham

and there ya have you a cloth sandwich.

    Dirt... I do declare.

  5. WHY DO YOU WANT TO EAT DIRT FOR ARE YOU MENTALY STABLE?

  6. Well all dirt is "edible" but what specifically are you looking for?  Is there some sort of micro organism that lives in the dirt you want to eat?  I guess start eating it in your back yard and if it doesn't hit the spot move to your neighbors yard.  You win my "wierdest question on Yahoo" award.

  7. dude I was born and raised in mississippi and the only thing that comes close to that is mississippi mud ice cream other than that nothing has really caught my eye as "good eat" quote from alton brown

  8. Try oreo cookies the black part of the cookie crumbled up.

If you really want to eat real dirt go a head it might taste bad but it will not kill you, it may make you sick.
