Where can I find Bo Staff weapons training in Philadelphia.

Question

I am looking to get into martial arts but I don't even know where to begin. I live in the Philadelphia, Pa region and is really looking to find a school to get into that would also teach me how to use my 2 favorite weapons which are the Bo and Nunchaku. I hope someone knows a school in the Philadelphia region that could help teach me both weapons. And please don't read this and tell me I should learn other weapons and which weapons are better for other reason. I like my 2 weapons and I want to learn how to use them first.

Your best bet would be to try and find an Okinawan Kobudo school. Both of these are Okinawan weapons, and some empty hand karate styles train weapons also, however most require that you at least get to green belt before starting weapons. be advised that in a good Kobudo school you will not be learning Nunchucks the way they are generally portrayed as being used. You will learn some striking, but none of the fancy stuff like Bruce Lee. Nunchuck's were originally used as more of a locking/trapping weapon.

Our school teaches Bo staff, Dragon pole and other weapons as well, nunchucka, scythe, Butterfly sword. Our philosophy is that to defend properly against weapons you must understand their use.

Sorry we aren't closer. We are in Two locations, Newark Delaware and Old New Castle near the Delaware Memorial Bridge.

I'm not aware of any school that would start a novice with weapons. You would have to train in the chosen martial art first with katas, blocks, punches, kicks, etc.
