I have a very very small house and I have to fit four kids in one room and the way the room is shaped I can fit one regular bunk on one side and a mini bunk in the other. But I can't find much on the web, let alone in a store. Has anyone seen these or do they know where they can be purchased?

  1. Have never seen a bunk for crib mattress, but you can buy a bunk bed that has a full size on the bottom (you can fit three kids) and a twin size on the top.

  2. They don't make them because children small and young enough to need a crib mattress should not be sleeping on a top bunk.  What about a bunk bed with a trundle for 3 of the kids plus a toddler bed (using your crib mattress.)

  3. Im pretty sure you cant.  There's the whole issue of the child being small for a bunk bed.  We had one made for us back when my oldest two were lil.  We put up a few flyer's around town looking for a handy man who could do it for us.  had him draw it up, worked out a deal, and had it done by the end of the week.  if you do get one made, make sure it screws together rather than nailed, otherwise its demo time when its time to go.   we used simple two-by fours and ply wood for ours.  had it sanded down then clear coated to keep lil hands from getting splinters.

well i just read the other answers...and I wanted to add, it wasnt a typical bunk bed hight.  the bottom bunk was at floor level.  it didnt even have room under it for anything cept a sheet of paper.  the second bunk was about a shade higher than my desktop.    If you think about your toddler, how many times have they climbed up to the top of your couch?  We had guard rails on it, and alil ladder attached that were more like a small scale stairs.  We had it made when they were about 1 1/2 years old.  so it wasn't like they were babies and still crawling around or anything.  not once did they fall off the top bunk.  just use common sense when making one or buying one.

  4. One idea might be to do a bunk bed, with a trundle, 3 beds there, then just a toddler bed.  This site had a bunk bed with a trundle.

Or see if theres a toddler trundle bed.  Those are the beds that slide out from under another.

Im guessing they dont make toddler size bunk beds for safety assumptions.
