Question:

Where can I find Country Club Membership fees in north Chicago suburbs?

I am thinking of joining a country club in the north shore of Illinois (north of the city). I'm curious to find out the membership fees for both a regular and a junior member. I don't want to have to call each club and ask them.

Is there a website or a better way to find out the initiation and monthly fees? I don't know anyone at many of these clubs (I'm young and new to the area), so I am hoping there are websites with the info. Thanks.

  1. Private clubs are just that - Private.  They don't publish their membership fees on websites.  Most private clubs will require that you have a sponsor who is already a member that recomends you - you usually cannot just walk in and say "I want to join your club".  Some clubs may have membership drives to gain a group of new members and will offer discounted rates, but generally you can expect to pay $20,000 to $40,000 to join a club in that area.

  2. There isn't a community type page or site for these clubs- most should have their own web pages, and you can check them out individually, or you will have to call- most club fees (dues, initiation, food minimums, etc. change on a regular basis due to demand, popularity of the club, membership no.s, ....  But typicallythis is a good time of year to join- not as good as fall, since rates and fees are usually none or very low then, but in areas like the North Shore, when the club is under 3 feet of snow, they will be glad for every nickel they can get.  Also, don't be afraid to try and negotiate, it never hurts to haggle.  Good Luck.
