and as you can see, it's not cheap, it's 680$

And, that's way to expensive to go with a camera that's only around half that price body online. Nikon would only include such an expensive lens on a d80 or d300, you wouldn't find that on a nikon d40. Sorry, you're going to have to get the 680$ lens seperately, sorry nikon didn't make such a kit for the d40 DSLR. However, you could get it with a 55-200mm
