  1. I got mine at wal mart for around 260

  2. Heaven... :)

The cheapest digital SLR camera is the canon rebel xt, which you can buy body only for less than 400$, around 377$, or somewhere in that area. For three hundred dollars, you couldn't get anything brand new, would you go for ' used ', you shouldn't be afraid to, i would of bought my DSLR used, but it didn't occur to me at the time. You shouldn't be ashamed of buying something used.

that's a good deal, it's a used canon xt DSLR, with a kit lens for under four hundred, 350$, you can't beat that, and it's not likely you'll find any better for the price. However, look on http://ebay.com, and see what you can find.

The screen is a little scratched, but that's not very important, you can still take a picture, the image quality isn't going to be affected by that little detail :)

  3. Nowhere.  A good entry-level DSLR kit can cost $500, at the least, at most camera and electronic stores.  However, you can find some great deals online (ie Adorama, Ritz).

If you're lucky you may find a used one on ebay.

  4. You are not going to find a new one for that price.  You might check your local camera stores to see if they have a used one on consignment.  That would be the most reliable way to get something that's reliable.  For around 400 to 500, you could get the Nikon D40 which is a sweet camera for the price.

  5. Check on craigslist in a city near you.

You may not find much sympathy from those of us who went  to Art Center, Brooks or RIT ... Talk about being poor.  And we had to supply our own 4x5 view camera and small format cameras before we started.
