Question:

Where can I find Hawthorne cruiser bike tires?

I have a vintage Hawthorne cruiser (made by Sears), probably from the '50s or early '60s. I need to replace the tires and couldn't find them on ebay. My neighborhood bike shop won't order them because there isn't enough demand. They are balloon whitewall tires, 26 x 1.75 (fits 26 x 2.125 rim). If anyone knows of anywhere online or in my area (Detroit, MI) where I could find these, I'd really appreciate it!

  1. Try a different bike shop.  There probably isn;t a big demand for these tires, but that's what special orders are for.

  2. 26 x 1.75 is a very common tire size for mountain bikes and department store bicycles.

If you are looking for specific tires, try a google search and see what comes up. Finding the right size should be no problem.
