Where can I find a CHEAP and i mean CHEAP winter coat in San Francisco?

And, if possible, within walking distance of Univ. of San Fran, because I don't have a car or bike and I'm pretty much broke, but I'm from southern California and i didn't expect it to be so cold, so i need a pea coat or something.... Below $50 would be nice....

it's going to be tough trying to find a coat within that budget. you may want to check out the thrift stores since they offer used clothing and are more affordable than the typical department stores. there is a goodwill at 1700 haight street; a salvation army at 3921 geary blvd.

there's also a mervyn's around usf. it's a bit of a walk but walkable. it's located at 2675 geary blvd. mervyn's tends to have a lot of sales during the weekend so you may want to check it out. you may not be able to find a coat under $50 but you may not need to spend a lot either.
