Question:

Where can I find a FULL script of Thoroughly Modern Millie?

I'm willing to pay for the script - but I want one that includes the acting scenes AND the lyrics to the songs.

If you're going to suggest Music Theatre International - please let me know HOW to go about getting a script without paying the rights to perform it. Their website is very confusing.

I'm willing to pay up to $50 or so.

  1. No matter who OWNS it, or how you go about getting it, I cannot imagine it being allowed to you, for no RIGHTS TO PERFORM FEES. Essentially licensing and copy rights laws protect films and plays from being re-done, without some compensation, back to the owners. Any exceptions might be material, now deemed to be IN the Public Domain.

You might dig for info. in Playbill.com  as well.

  2. The only place you might possibly find a full score and book is the music library at a university where one of the students may have copied it (illegally, but it happens).

You cannot perform it without the rights, you will be sued, just in case you were thinking about it.

**It's great that you want to provide a copy to your niece to help her prepare for her audition, however if the script isn't available, you just have to make do with what you've got, which is usually the cast album. The thing about musicals though is that they don't usually require the same kind of preparation that a play does, the characters aren't usually that deep. So, as long as your niece is familiar with the music and has an idea of what the characters are like (check YouTube for performance clips), she should be fine for the auditions.
