  1. You apply to be one, I think. Google "modelling agency [your state]" and then start weeding out the bad ones. Once you have a short list, start contacting them about how to proceed.

If you're accepted, they'll pay for everything and earn their money back as a percentage of your paying jobs. Accept absolutely no other arrangement.

  2. Hello Maddy,

You have not supplied enough info to answer this question. As a former photographer for over 22 years in Los angeles I would need to know your age, city & state you live and any experience so far. Also do you have a portfolio or any pictures you could bring with you to a agency?

I just checked your profile, you will need your parents at least one of them to accompany you to any audition you have. Unless you live in a major city there will not be much available to you. You can go to the yellow pages and look under modeling agencies or Google modeling agencies in your area, contact them and ask them if and when they have open calls. This is when you can go and see if you have what it takes. The other thing you can try is buy all the teen magazines and look for their teen model search contest, they usually have one per year.

One last thing, be very careful who you put your trust in, there are many unreputable agencies, agents and photographers out there. You must take your parents with you.
