  1. if you want really cheap bikes, you can buy one at walmart, even those bikes were tested to be ridden more than 2000 miles.

    But if you really want a calss that would fit for more than 5000 miles, you can assemble one though.

It is difficult to know what "cheap" and "light" mean to you.  In my experience, a really light bike is not cheap so go for the lightest you can afford.  Go to your nearest bike shop (NOT like a Halfords or similar ) where the staff will be cycling enthusiasts and happy to tell you what is available and what you might need.  Also you get after sales servicing and advice that he Internet can't really provide.

  4. Don't know where you are so it's difficult to be specific.  If your in the UK look at the Focus range from www.wiggle.co.uk if your in the US look at the Scattante range from www.performancebike.com.  Both are cheap and well spec'd compared to brand names.
