I just advanced up from hunt seat training shows, so my everyday breeches and half chaps will no longer be suitable. The problem is, I don't have $230 dollars to spend on a nice pair of Tailored Sportsman. Maybe in the future, but not right away. I appreciate any advice ya'll have to offer!

  1. You don't need Tailored Sportsman breeches at rated show. I have a pair of $35 and $65(the ones I use more at shows) and they are both fine....sorry I can't remember then name of them. As long as they are baige or tan and don't look real cheap they are fine. I do show at local rated and some "A" shows.

I'm trying english out but I have never shown so I do not know what is good or not. But check out the sales on some of those!

  3. Are there any consignment tack shops near you?  Many places that sell new show apparel also have a "gently used" section where you can get some good deals.  You could also go to the Chronicle of the Horse trading board and see if anyone has any for sale there - lots of good deals to be had if you look.  Also, eBay and Craigslist are good places for reduced prices.

  4. I compete in horse trials and the best place I've found for any riding apparel or tack is Dover saddlery. They have 3 stores on the east coast and their website is www.doversaddlery.com. Their prices are very reasonable and all their products are great quality.
