This is a 15HP Honda Prop mounted on a 14 ft gigging boat. The dealer told us we needed to find a motor jack? used because they could not buy them new anymore. We have had no luck at all!

  1. First answer may be a good bet on this, I have seen what he talk of and they work. Some Sailboats use something similar. Myself, I enjoy trying to make things, so, I would probably try a prototype out of wood and make something like an "L" shape where you pull the lever to raise the engine, similar to a hydraulic lift. If, I get that to work well I may make one from metal. In time I would make either a hydraulic/pneumatic lift where I just push a button.

  2. a small piece of 2 x 4 ATTACHED to a small rope off the back. Tilt the engine up, put the 2 x 4 under the tilt tube hinge, now you can access shallow water, the ROPE is important so that if the outboard bumps the bottom, and tilts, the wood won't fall out and float away, keep rope short to avoid prop entanglemant.

  3. What you might look into is a hydraulic jack plate.  I run one on my bass boat  They make them for small and large outboards.  Look in a Bass Pro catalog, or check out the fishing magazines.  They lift from 5 to 10 inches.  Good luck.
