Question:

Where can I find a full size Mary-go-around horse?

I'm looking for a junkyard for old theme park rides (preferably in the Vancouver area). More specifically; I want one or two full size Mary-go-around horses but I have no idea where to find them or how much they might cost.

PLEASE, HELP

Thanks you.

  1. EBAY : )

  2. Wow. I'm guessing you meant "carousel"? My grandpa made one, actually, and it's really cool! (: But anyway, on eBay there's a full size on (this one's girly, I have to say) and the latest bid is $349.99, which I think is a little too crazy. But that's just me. There's an old fashioned one (eBay also) for $9.99!!!! Get your butt over there!! (type in 'full size carousel horse') Hope I helped. ☺

  3. Michael Jackson's back yard.

  4. Haha well good luck with that

  5. There is a place in Kellogg, MN that actually makes them for a small fee.  Try Google.

  6. Original, carved carousel horses are rare indeed.  If you do happen to find one for sale, expect to pay a small fortune for it.  The price seems to depend on the position of the animal on the carousel.

"The largest and most ornate on the outside row start at about $20,000 while very plain wooden horses on the inside rows may be as low as $4,000."

The top price came last year, when a rare St. Bernard dog carved in 1905, which once stood on the outside row of a carousel, sold at auction for $172,000.

They were made of wood, so if they ended up in a junk yard (as some obviously did), they would be rotted away by now.  The few that were preserved are antiques and worth quite a bit of money, as you can see.

You can buy the plastic ones new from several places on the Internet if you just want a spiffy conversation piece for your game room.  Replicas run around $2,000 - $3,000 for full size replicas.

Thanks for the impulse reaction. Nice vision.

  8. Check on the internet for antique shops dealing with amusement park paraphernalia.

  9. Check Neverland Ranch. Michael Jackson should have a few lying around.

I know I am of no help, sorry.

d**n! someone beat me to it!

  10. Internet!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. auction blocks

  12. If you're searching online, try "Merry-Go-Round."

This will get more hits than "Mary-Go-Around."
