I am writing a novel that has alot to do with genetics and how scientists can chemically engineer a baby's genes so that it they mutate. A link to an encyclopedia or something would be alright, but I would prefer someone who probably is studying all this at a higher level. It's easier for me to talk to people and learn things than reading them and trying to understand.

  1. There should be a University in your area where you can schedule an appointment to meet with a professor studying or knowledgeable in that very material you are seeking.

  2. Like neoxbomb suggested, you can check out a local university. More likely than not, they will have a professor who teaches genetics who will be able to direct you.

But I think what you would want to talk to would be a genetic counselor. They don't deal in the lab with actual mutations, but they do work with people on all sorts of different problems when it comes to genes and family history. There are genetic counselors in almost every town, and most hospitals should have a genetic counseling center. Look it up in your phone book.

here are a few links for information and maybe a good starting place to find experts in the field
