  1. This is a long answer so I apologize but I figured I'd give you lots of info.  My father and I run an umbrella school for homeschoolers in Central Florida.  Our website is www.familiesoffaith christianacademy  .com

He's been working with homeschoolers for 13 years and my parents homeschooled my 4 siblings and me from kindergarten through high school (I graduated in 1995).  We have a website that sells most types of curriculum.  We just launched the bookstore section so if the edges seem a bit rough that's why.

If you google search "homeschool curriculum" you'll find other websites as well.  We try to offer the best prices but keep in mind that the publishers set the price.  They tell sellers the lowest amount they can sell an item for.  So if you find a price that seems way too good to be true be cautious.

No matter where you get your curriculum you need to cover the 4 major subjects, English, Math, Science, & Social Studies.  There are lots of good curriculum out there and which one you chose depends a lot on you childs learning style.  Most homeschool families "mix-and-match".  In other words they will use one publisher for English.  A different publisher for math, and maybe another one for Science and Social Studies.  This way the students gets the most out of each subject.

For math we recommend using the Saxon math curriculum.  Especially at this level.  The student is about to enter the Algebra level and they need a good foundation to be successful.

I could go on and on but I don't want to take up too much space.  If you would like more info you can e-mail at donjl@yahoo.com and I'd be happy to help.

  2. I would say A Beka, it's Christian curriculum, I was raised using it and I think that I and my brother are above average in our grades, 8th and 10th. But in math you should use Saxon, I learned my lesson the hard way, I started it in Pre- algebra, but I was in 9th when I started it, so it was much hard then if I had started in 6th, 7th, or even 8th when I should have been in it, mostly because I hadn't had the lessons in it beforehand.

    Abeka website : www.abeka.com

    good luck

  3. I am not positive what specifically you are looking for because there are so many, many variables to this question..  Secular? Christian?, Catholic? Classical? Unit Study? Hands-on?

But since you mentioned websites, I will assume you are looking for free?  Here are just a couple that are extensive.
