I am hoping that someone can help me. My husband has almost 10 years of experience in trucking. He has a clean record. Good references. etc. But, now he's looking for a job. We live in Southern California.

We Need:

- OTR route

- allows me to go with him

- doesn't make him do long training away from me that I can't go too.

- Has benefits

- Pays at least decent.

Any and all help you could give us would be tremendously appreciated!!

  1. Well I would start by going to the nearest Flying J or other big truck plaza and getting those small application books they have in the drivers section. See whose advertising for drivers. You'll need to think about whether you want to go regional, long haul, local or maybe dedicated.

Then I would call around to places of interest and see how long their training is, most I think are about a week and you will most likely not be able to go with him, I never was allowed to go and then it's like a month after that before you can go although that may have changed and depend on the company. I would think it's a rare company that does not allow riders, at least close family members, some allow small pets although not many.

Most companies I've looked at have decent pay and benefits packages, some have programs that will help the spouse get their CDL.

I hope this has helped a little bit, I'm sure others will be able to help you more.
