Where can I find a good historical background, display, or layout for a history assignment?

i was thinking of something like a desk clustered with old tools texts, photos, maps, newspaper etc

anything that is relevant to the historical time period of the 20th century.

A museum or interpretative centre, as an academical they should help you out.Have you anything in mind with a theme ?  I may be able to help you out.
