Where can I find a good mountain bike online, under $150, for a casual rider?

I'm mostly riding it to SCHOOL, but I dont like the handlebars on road bikes, so I want a mountain bike.

What's a good brand, if you don't know a specific place?

I can only spend about $150, since I'm no professional.

There are women-specific designed mountain bikes at your price range at EBAY ( www.ebay.com-category: Sporting Goods and click CYCLING).  Most will have 8 speed drivetrains and low end gears. A good brand is Motobecane though you can find Fuji, Raleigh, Schwinn, Trek and some Specialized. Select brand new rigs and test drive the bike.

"good", "under $150". no such bike in any category, unless you find something used. for a "casual rider", I also assume a casual buyer. in which case I don't suggest buying a bicycle online. a bicycle must be properly fitted, or it will not be enjoyed. a casual buyer does not know what he/she is looking for, or what will fit. therefore, you would be best served, visiting your LBS, getting fitted, and discussing the various bicycles which meet your budgetary limitations. double your budget, and you'll get a nice bike for the money..

W.W. is right.  You can't get a good mountain bike for $150.00 delivered.  You can get one that works for riding to school, however, from Amazon for $150, including "Super Saver" shipping.

Go to the link below.  Don't be concerned that this is described as a men's bike. This is the style you want, not the more expensive and weaker step-through frame that's commonly referred to as a women's frame.  Just be sure to measure and order the correct frame size.

Mongoose used to be a very respected brand, but now they are owned by Pacific, a mega-maker of "department store" grade bikes under several different brand names.

Your next best choice would be from Bikes Direct, but would cost you twice your budget.  See the second link below.
