Where can I find a list of famous people throughout history including birth and death dates?

In particular, people who are involved in music, arts, literature, etc. I need a place that has them available in a long list that I can copy, not a place that requires me to search by date. Thanks!

  1. Wikipedia has many major lists of important types of people.  If you search for someone who you know will fit into your list, find their article and then look at the bottom of that article, there should be a clickable link there that states that the article is about a "musician," "artist" or whomever.  Click on the link and it should bring you to a list of people who fit that description.  At least this works for historical people, so it should work for you too.

The lists should be alphabetical and will be under whatever category you clicked on if you follow the directions that I just mentioned.

  2. Inasmuch as history encompasses such a long period of time and the list you are looking for probably does not exist in the form you want it will be impossible to find. This is an arduous task that you are demanding someone to do for you.

My suggestion is that YOU compile the list so others may copy and paste the information that you have found. If you feel that this is too difficult a task for you to accomplish then you might want to rethink what you are asking others to do for you.

Secondly, to copy and paste someone's work is called plagiarism and is a prosecutable offense. And yahoo answers considers it to be also and could take measures against you for doing it. It wouldn't be difficult to prove because of the nature of your question.

In short, I strongly urge you to google each name you want to know about and then copy the information and then paste it. Oh, by the way, don't forget to cite where, who, and when that information was written onto a bibliography. By doing this you are giving rightful credit to the person/s who are the primary sources of that information. Also you might learn how long a project like this will take, the amount of effort you are expecting from others and maybe the joy of knowing you have accomplished this task on your own.

  5. Wikipedia has such lists.  Just do a search for "List of artists" or "List of musicians."  They have links that go to individual articles.

As inaccurate as Wikipedia can be, to its credit that's one thing that I like about it.

    Cheers!
