Maybe figures of speech isn't the right word; I don't know. But I am looking for things like "raining cats and dogs" and "what a shame." I am looking for these because I am tutoring some adults for ESL and we came across a few today during our 'class' and decided that next week we should work on some of those so if they hear them, then they understand them. I'm looking for anything that isn't necessarily literal or that may be confusing. One of the women asked me what gosh meant in "Oh my gosh." If you could give me a site that gives common phrases, figures of speech, slang, etc., that would be great. I'm looking for anything that isn't necessarily literal or that may be confusing.
