If you're doing a genealogical search try the Church of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) web site. That's how I found the ships my great grandparents came on.

The Church of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) have a huge geneology section. Also, try your local historical society. My local one has a list of ships manifests during that time. You could also try to see if they came in through Castle Garden through their records but they are spotty. Chances are there may have been no record of his entrances but ships passenger manifests can be found a lot of places. Check the Mormons. Even though you may not be Mormon, they will have a record of you, trust me.
