  1. http://www.the-racehorse.com/bloodstock

and buddy a little advice. If you want a horse bred for distance on the turf, you can't go wrong with Smart Strike

If you want horse for long dirt races you cant go wrong with AP Indy, Awsome Again, or Giants Causway.

Now if you want a good mare for long races go with better than honour. And finally for your question, if you want a horse bred for short races, you cant go wrong with Lost Soldier

  2. I know this information is compiled by several entities, and I also know that the Blood-Horse magazine periodically publishes it.  Information about the Average Winning Distance for each sire is available in their Stallion Register on-line (http://www.bloodhorse.com/stallion-regis... but you'd have to look up each individual horse.  Equiline.com has this sort of information available, but you have to be a subscriber to their service.

Since the bulk of American races are written at six furlongs, a "quick and dirty" way of determining the top sires at six furlongs would be to go with the leading sires by number of winners.  It's dollars to donuts that a sire with a large number of winners is siring horses that are good at the six furlong distance.

    Hope this helps!

  3. That's difficult.  I can't seem to find anyone that lists the top sires according to the distance that their progeny win over.

The Racing Post website have stats for leading sires, leading 2 year old sires and first crop sires but that is all I can find.

Hyperion Promotions do put together statistics, but they charge quite a bit of money.  You could try their website: http://www.hyperionstatistics.com
