  2. The name comes from the Channel Island of Jersey, which is located between England and France.  New Jersey was part of New York.  In 1664 New Jersey became an English colony.  Fighting occurred here during the American Revolution because of its closeness to New York City and Philadelphia.  Today Its an industrial state known as the crossroads of the East.  Considered by many an ideal vacation state, New Jersey has become quite a popular Middle Atlantic State.

  3. On the Internet, or at the library in books (!!), look for colonial New Jersey. If you're online, look at the url and choose something FROM New Jersey. Each state has historical societies that have gobs of stuff. If you can get to a library, the librarian will help you find lots of info.

  4. just google "history of New Jersey"
