  1. They are an obsolete gauge that has not been made since the 1880's, maybe earlier than that. It was one of the sizes used by the market hunters for years.  As to where to purchase one, an antique store, museum or gun collector is about all I can think of who might have one.  They are quite rare, and I've never seen one despite having been around old guns for 60 years.   The largest I've handled was a 10 double with Damascus twist barrels and exposed hammers.  Good luck.

  2. You can find one in these 2 gun selling websites www.gunsamerica.com and www.gunbroker.com.

  3. gunbroker or auctionarm or gunsamerica

anyways, the 8 gauge is an old gauge from the blackpowder days that along with some other large gauges was fired into flocks to harvest game to re-sell in meat markets.  That practice is now illegal and hunting with gauges bigger than 10 is now illegal.

However, those old shotguns weren't really all that powerful or great, simply because the old gunpowders weren't very good.  A modern 12 guage in 3 1/2 inch chambering can outperform a vintage 8 gauge.

  4. as far as i know there is no such thing as an 8 gauge shotgun

    10 being the largest

  5. firearms auctions and gun shows if you get lucky.  You could get a brand new one built if you happen to have way too much money.
