I like the Russian fairy tale, The Firebird.  Resist temptation, and do as you are told, and as you promise.

There are several small roles.

It is visual and costumes can be as complicated as a full outfit or as simple as a handmade mask.

Plus you have an oppurtunity to learn words like Tzar, and bridle.

Why don't you try one of Aesop's fables? They all have a moral behind them, and I'd imagine they'd be really easy and fun to perform. For example The Boy Who Cried Wolf? Although if the wolves would be too scary, you could always modify it.
