I want to be able to crop my videos. Like how you can do that in pictures.

Like if there's a picture of me standing next to my friend, I can use cropping to remove the half with my friend, thus making it a picture of just me. I know there's a way to do that with videos, but I don't have a program that could work. And I've tried google, but I couldn't find any, and the ones I did find cost money. Can somebody please find me a free one and post me the link?

  1. If you post it and give a link I will do it for you real quick

  2. i believe adobe producer does that or even sony vegas. good luck

  3. I use iMovie on my MacBook to edit all my videos. It works very well. It goes for around $80 if you buy it with iLife I think. Depending on if you have a mac or pc, the softwares can vary.

  4. There are numerous free editing tools for video.

If you are on a PC there are the following:

    1) Jahshaka

Jahshaka is a free multi-use offline editing tool. Although it is still fairly new on the market.

    2) T@B ZS4

T2B ZS4 is a free video editing and compositing tool from Zwei-Stein. Its not for everyone, but it could be for you.

    3) Wax

A free tool with powerful editing and compositing abilities.

    4) Video Spin

Video Spin is the free video editing tool from Avid.

    5) Vivia

Vivia is a basic editing software which is currently being developed and is in Beta testing. If you are using Linux or Windows you might want to check this out

    6) Avidemux

One of the more stable and complete free tools available.

    7) Blender

Blender is a powerful, multi-use editing/compositing and modeling tool. It's one of the best on the market and it's free.

Generally speaking, unless you are only doing very basic things you may need more than one tool to create your final vision. I would recommend something like VirtualDub for doing the cropping. Remember though that if you crop a clip the remaining picture may need to be scaled up to fit the screen. If you have low quality footage scaling up will produce artifacts and 'blocks'

Other than that you're into the 'big guns' such as Adobe Premier or Final Cut Pro

Information about these and more can be found on my web site. Check my profile for that link

    Thanks... Freevideoman
