Where can I find a prop replica Mannlicher Carcano Rifle like the one used by Lee Harvey Oswald?

I've searched all over the internet for one of these. I can't find anything. I don't want a real gun, just a prop to add to my collection of JFK assassination memorabilia.

There are no replicas of the Carcano rifle. It is not popular enough or in such demand as to warrant the production of replicas. The other answerer is correct in that you can buy a real one for around 100.00.

Many of these which are in the United States were converted to 8mm by the n**i's after they were captured in North Africa. The 8mm guns are not considered safe to fire. While the gun Oswald used was in caliber 6.5mm Carcano, the 8mm guns are visually identical. If you so wished, a gunsmith could easily render an example in either caliber completely inoperable for 20 dollars or so.

get a real one and have it rendered inoperable

or better yet get a real one and keep it that way! simply have a gunsmith remove a key part which you store in a seperate location, labeled as what it is.

Honestly I've never seen one, if they are available they might cost more than just buying a real Carcano

I would start with a "wish list" on ebay.  I think if you look for a "prop firearms" as a search category and check under  movie memorabilia something will come up and at least give you a prop house to check with.  I know in the movie JFK they had prop rifles, you might score one on ebay used in the movie, which would be very cool. Another source might be amazon.com, They have expanded and are closing in on ebay.

The gun is generally, though wrongfully in my opinion, considered a piece of c**p

I don't think anyone has any interest in making a dummy when the real gun sells for around $100
