my mom used to be a great runner, but she can't run ever again because of an injury. She now swims at a healthclub but the water there (for her anyway) is freezing. Like most thin women, the only fat she has on her body is in her legs, so her legs are warm enough but she always complains that her torso and arms are cold. I want to buy her a wetsuit top for christmas to she won't have to freeze in the pool.

Where can I find something like that? I don't want a full body suit because that would be unnessacary and hard to get on and off.

  1. The basic material that wetsuits are made out of is neoprene. The thickness of the neoprene is a major factor in how warm a suit will be. The thicker the neoprene, the warmer the suit. However, "thicker" also means heavier and less flexible. Semi-dry wetsuits are made for colder water temperatures, but are still easy to maneuver in compared to a dry suit. They should be available at your local dive/water sports retailer. One of the employees there should be able to help you out. A lot of wetsuits are two-piece, and most retailers sell them separately.

  2. I saw something at d**k's Sporting Goods just last week in the clearance section for summer stuff: ladies & guy's form fitting surf tops.  Pretty cheap.

Nothing warm enough for the ocean or anything, but a 1mm layer should take the chill out of the pool and not be bulky.  Plus, there were a lot of colors available.

  3. There should be many on ebay or on amazon. For very cheap prices. I hope you find the one!
