Where can I find a £200 avg. wedding ring in London ?

not trying to be cheap, but the material being white gold or platinium it semesthat it's possible to find reasonable prices on internet, so why not in high street ?

We don't see why we should pay £1200 for the same

Try Hatton Gardens. There are a lot of jewellers down there, and you can look and try them on.  You will also see the difference between a £200 9ct ring and a £500 18ct ring.  There is a difference between a £200 and a £1,200 ring, but you need to see them both at the same time to understand why.  You'll probably end up picking somewhere inbetween.  Look for somewhere that prices by weight and ct.  

Another good place is Southall, if you like indian gold (which is brighter and yellower than UK gold).

A lot of the stuff on eBay isn't what it's sold as, that's why they sell it cheaper. Diamonds are a big area where people get ripped off, but if you're after a wedding ring it will probably be plain gold; the thing with plain gold is that it can be sold as 18ct when it's lower, 15ct for example. Unless you really know what you're doing you can eaily get ripped off.  And that applies to any internet seller of jewellery, no doubt most  are okay but unless you're an expert you won't know.

It's only when you see and feel the weight that you can understand the difference between 9ct, 18ct and 22ct gold. The ct. is less important for coloured gold, eg. white or red, the ct. is irrelevant in some ways as it's actually plating and it is less important what's underneath.

if it does involve diamonds, there are lots of factors to consider. You can probably pick up a 1carat diamond on eBay for not that much, a few hundred pounds, or you could pay £5,000.  But the cheap one is probably something that no jeweller would see as the quality would be so low that it looked worse than cubic zirconia.
