  1. You cannot get personal census information anywhere for 100 yrs - in 2012 you will have access to the 1911 census.

    http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/1911c...

  2. Census information held under an act which restricts publication for 100 years after the data was collected.  This is to protect people still alive today.  If you think back to the last census you filled in there is a lot of information in there that you don't necessarily want in the public domain.

What you can search is the Electoral Roll which will give you names and addresses of people you may be looking for.  Most companies charge for this as they have had to buy it themselves but you can usually also access it at your local library.

If it's more information about certain individuals you want you won't be able to find it.  We are still protected to a certain extent in this country.  You wouldn't want people to find out sensitive information about you presumably?

  3. In GOOGLE-- type-- OPC project

This is free and there are a lot of censuses for  separate areas if you know which one you want.

  4. There is only one UK census that is free to search and that's 1881. We are only up to 1901 census wise here in the UK the next one will be made available on line on 2nd January 2012.

www.ancestry.co.uk have the BMD index up to 31 st December 2005. I have membership  with them if there is something you would like me to find for you. You can email me through my profile as it is unethical to post information  in relation to living people on any yahoo forum.

  5. www.freebmd.org.uk are currently listing all records on the web for free - they've only got up to 1920s-1930s so far though, so might be a while till they get to the 80's!
