Question:

Where can I find an organization who will donate 250+ tennis balls to a school?

I teach second grade and the chairs and desks make a lot of noise on the tile floor in my classroom. I know cutting a slice in a tennis ball and putting them on the ends of the chairs and desks eliminates the noise.

To buy that many will cost me a fortune.

Do you know of any organizations who will donate something like that to a school?

Thanks for answering!!!

  1. Call local places that offer tennis and request if you can have the old tennis balls that get thrown away.

  2. You wouldn't need new tennis balls for that, so why not go to a tennis club and see if they won't donate those which are no longer usable for tennis?

  3. neniaf has it correct - Thats where I bought my set - they last about 1 year with seventh graders. Expect to buy some again next year.

  4. dont do it man! dont do it! those kids man! theyr gonna do it! and you will regret it!

  5. Call local colleges/universities that have a tennis team (if available)...when my son's teacher asked parents to donate old tennis balls for the same reason, I called the tennis coach at the university and he gave us about 100 of the team's old practice balls.

Asking the parents for help is another idea...my son's teacher collected enough for two classrooms (with the 100 I brought from the tennis team and the three old ones I found at my house).

You should also check out eBay...I found dozens of listings for used tennis balls in bulk lots...a couple of dollars from each parent would be more than enough to cover the cost of buying them from eBay!

  6. Um, would a donated carpet be less distracting than 250+ yellow balls?
