Trying to find my father's birth certificate. He was born in the Belgium Congo in 1944. His name was Heindrik Tjaart Venter, born 11th Sept 1944, father Stephanus Tjaart Venter and mother Embrenzia Chopin, both of Belgium decent as far as I know. If anyone has any ideas please contact me. Thanks Daniel Tjaart Venter, Australia.

  1. Because it was a colony of Belgium and they were Belgian citizens, you'll have to get the records from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Belgium. Here's a website that should be able to help:

    http://www.diplomatie.be/en/services/nat...

  2. The best site I would use is http://www.v1g.org because they have soooooooo many different records that would help you find out for sure. Its cheap as h**l too and like I said you'll get over 40 records on your father. This should most definitely help you.

  3. You would probably have to write to the Congo to see if any records escaped the political turmoil over the years.
