I've never built a boat and am NOT a handy person. I'd really like to build a small row boat or a boat that I can put a small motor on. It has to be very easy to build--cut, s***w, tape, paint--plus cheap! I need Full Sized Patterns for the complete small boat- not just the hull. I have done some research but can't find it. It can't be any longer then 8' and 7' would be better. Needs a flat bottom. No more then 3 sheets of plywood to build but 2 would be better. I want to learn how to build a boat but a simple one. I want to spend some time with my dad. Thanks, from an older woman.

  1. Try this link, he has many plans and is very popular

    http://www.bruceroberts.com/

  2. My public library has several books.  Local used book stores have others.  Marine equipment supply firms often have related material.

Barnes & Noble, the chain outlet, has a help dest for such orders.

Then there are boat kits that are proffered in popular reading.  I've

found previously owned hulls cheap in boatyards and at auctions

held by habormasters for abandoned craft or all seized for debts.

There was an auction recently where a sole bid of $300,000 got a

former state maintained ferryboat valued at 3 million dollars.

  3. go to www.pdracer.com.  I built hull #58 and have been the Canadian Champion three years running.  We hold a hatch every spring and in the last three years teams have built 20 boats over the course of a weekend.  They start with a pile of lumber on Friday and are sailing sunday afternoon.  The Puddle Duck is the simplest boat you can build.
