Question:

Where can I find boat rentals to travel to the smaller islands in the Bahamas? Not Tour Groups?

My family of 4 will be going to Atlantis in the Bahamas. I would like to do more than just be at the resort, even though I know we will love it there. I want to visit some beaches and snorkle on some of the smaller ( possibly uninhabited ) islands. Other than the obvious tour group.....Is there another way to rent a boat on Nassau to safely visit other islands? Atlantis will probably be so crowded I would like to escape and relax with just the family.

  1. Think about  taking a ferry from Nassau to one of the other islands. Here is a link

Here is a link to hiring a private charter that will take you to some of the smaller islands.

    Good Luck and enjoy)

  2. try this site Cariblot.com see if anybody offer boat rental

  3. u cant just go an rent a boat and go to the other islands...its not that easy and WHY THE h**l DID U GO TO NASSUA, IT IS THE MOST GHETTOEST PLACE IN THE BAHAMAS

  4. There's an outfit at the British Colonial Hilton that rent Panga's.  Not fast, but they will get you to some of the nearer islands.

Thing is.. most of the islands that you can see from shore.. in the distance, are privately owned, and therefore don't allow outsiders.  Those that allow tourist, have a per person charge to use the island.

When you get into town, take a walk to the dock next to the Paradise Island Ferry terminal.  There are many boats for hire for the day.   They would come with a guide as well.. since these guys don't trust thier expensive boats (and their livelihood) to strangers who don't know the waters.
