Question:

Where can I find cheap flights to Maui?

I'm finding it's going to cost me about $700-900 round trip just before Christmas. I've been looking on kayak.com, cheapair.com, cheapoair.com. Do you know of any sites where I can buy tickets that people need to get rid of?...anything like that?

Also, what's the difference between flying into Kahului vs. Hana? Is there a difference? I'm wondering because Kahului flights seem to be at least $100 cheaper, just trying to figure out if there's an advantage to flying into Hana...

Thanks :)

  1. $700 - $900 is pretty cheap for maui, esp. around christmas time, you really can't find any prices cheaper than that.

As for destination, I would definitely fly to Kahului, which is only where the airport is, but to have a good time and be in a beautiful place, from the airport you would have to drive to a few different places.

I definitely suggest Ka'anapali as the best place, it has the most beautiful (and not crowded beaches) and a lot of available hotels.

It is also near Lahaina, which is the best "old town" scene to go around.

I don't know why Hana seems to be a little more expensive because Hana is really secluded, and the town of Hana is the smallest place you can be in. There is barely anything there, HOWEVER, Hana and areas around Hana have the best scenaries.. waterfalls, etc. The roads are only two lane roads and very curvy to drive, so to go to Hana, in order to go to the nearest city, it is a long drive, and the next city still very small and doesnt have much.

So definitely go to west maui...take a flight to Kahului, rent a car and drive over to west maui.

Hope you have a fantastic trip!

  2. cheeptickets.com

nd its better to go the week after labor day weekend bc its like 300-500 dollars it so cheep!

  3. Priceline.com (try putting in a lower bid), and there are some charter flights to Maui, just put "charter flights to Maui" in the search engine, there are some. I think it's suntrips.com that has some cheap flights to Maui. Try kayak.com , travelzoo.com, and bookingbuddy, smartertravel.com, and sign up for their weekly emails, sometimes you can get deals. No advantage to Hana, only if you're only staying there.
