Try Value City Furniture they're cheap, also check the papers and craigs list !!  also you could try the salvation army stores ! sometimes they even have new!! if worst comes to worse... you could rent to own from a place like AARON'S, i've used them and they've treated me well !!

Try craigslist some of the furniture is free i got an egg chair for free there and has areas in detroit where you can find furniture

I found my bedroom set on detroit.craigslist.org. I paid $150 for the entire bedroom set. (Queen size bed, 2 dressers and a nightstand). There are also free beds on there all the time. You can also check out the Myspace classifieds and Freecycle. If you're looking to purchase something from a store, look into Salvation Army (they sell refurbished mattresses and box springs), Rent A Center, and Aarons.
