I need to improve my running so I can lose weight (I am overweight) and I also want to increase my mile time.

So far my current mile time is 8:31. That's not even standard long distance running. I would run really fast then walk slowly until I could run again.

I have a basically low arch and I'm not sure what the mechanics of my running are. Pretty much the simplest.

I also have pretty large feet that keep growing. At 12 years old I have a size 11 Male.

Seeing as how I don't have much money, and I've already saved up almost $30, it can't be more than $60.

I am also a fan of yellow sweat/headbands. If you could find me any of these things that would help.

All that being said, I still mainly want to improve my long distance stamina in general. That's what's most important, especially if I have to wear old beat up skater shoes.

  1. you can try big 5

  2. I know where I live, there's a place called "d**k's Sporting Goods". They have SO many varieties of shoes; from cleats, to tennis shoes, to jogging, to walking, etc. If that's not helpful, I know when I head to the mall, I ALWAYS run into a "Foot locker". They also have a variety of shoes from basketball, jogging, walking, etc. I hope you find something.

  3. You could find what you're looking for at a Target or Walmart, but be careful of the fit and support.

FootLocker or a similar athletic specialty store would be better, and you are much more likely to find a lighter, more comfortable and better fitting shoe.

Best advice I can give you is shop around, find a shoe you like and pay whatever it costs.  You should be able to stay within your budget.

  4. there are a variety of places you can go to buy shoes...target, walmart, foot locker, just look in different places...you really want to get good qaulity ones if you are serious about running. So get the best quality you can afford...and make sure they fit well for your arch...if you need them, you can always buy insoles.

Just some tips with your running, dont start out really fast, if you are trying to loose weight, you want to run for more than 20 minutes without stopping, so if i were you, i would run at a lower speed, but for longer. This builds stammener which helps with all exercise. It will take time to be able to run for a while if you are really out of shape, so be patient and get out there atleast 5 times a week when you are getting into shape. and dont forget to stretch!

    i hope ive helped!
