Where can I find cheap slick tyres for my mountain bike? 26 x 1.25?

No I mean 26 x 1.25. Apparently they are extremely low profile but I can't find any for under £30. I'm only using them once for the London to Brighton bike ride.

Try your local bike shop, about £10. and I assume you mean 26 x 1.75"

I don't know about cheap, but several manufacturers make them:  Geax, IRC, Panaracer, Tioga, Kenda.    Check out http://www.chainreactioncycles.com .....they seem to have great prices and they're a good company (I've ordered from them several times and had things shipped to the US, before the Dollar tanked).

If you can't find them in stock, ask a shop to order them for you.  Two things might make them a little more expensive than other 26" tires:  it's not a common size, and the price of rubber has been going way, way up lately in the world market (so all tires and innertubes are about to take a price hike).  

If you can't find some at the price you want, then consider going to a larger slick.  They'll weigh a little more, but contrary to popular belief, they don't get sluggish and increase rolling resistance despite the larger contact patch on the tarmac.  Also, a 1.5 or larger tire may give you a better ride feel because it will better match the width of your rims.  Most 26" rims are 20-26mm wide, and using a narrow tire on them changes the profile of the casing...sometimes makes cornering kinda weird.

Specialized makes the Fatboy (kinda ironic) tire - 26x1.25 for $25 USD. not sure how that converts to your currency, but i have them on my mtb - super fast and super sticky! definately worth the money!
